SEO Presentation (Rob Reilly, Mixed Handed Branding)
As the evolution of the internet continues to change, the importance of SEO has continued to evolve and we see this industry become more and more competitive. Learn a few do-it-yourself tips and tricks to help with your website rankings as well as a broad overview of things that happen behind-the-scenes with the rise of AI search. Once again, we are in a transitional time as our websites are now being sited from major players like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. SEO should not be thought of as "optional" in the Internet-first world we live in today, but utilized to ensure you have the visibility you need to attract the right audience and customers.

Rob Reilly Bio: After graduating with a degree in design and advertising from Iowa State, Rob left his homeland of Iowa for the PNW, landing first in an advertising role at The Seattle Weekly. From there he worked in higher education, advising college media at the University of Hawaii, then at the University of Oregon, until it finally came time to build the unique, client-focused creative branding and marketing company he’d always dreamed of. In March of 2019, that dream became reality and Mixed Handed Branding was born! Rob loves generating creative, results-driven solutions for businesses that are ready to grow and then seeing how our work at Mixed Handed Branding helps them realize that growth, continuing to collaborate with clients as their brands evolve. When he is not the “Chief Poncho Wearer”, he’s outside hiking, running, disc-golfing, body surfing, and generally keeping things active.

Social Media Presentation (Dr. Noelle Nelson, Insights Research Lab - University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business)
In Dr. Nelson's words, with the ocean of choices for social media platforms and communications, how is a small business supposed to navigate this ever-changing space? Understanding how AI has changed consumers' interactions with social media and how 'authenticity' has become valued over reach are vital in moving forward online. We'll discuss how consumers' values and behaviors have shifted in social media spaces, and how businesses can make intentional choices for their brands without being overwhelmed by the range of options.

Dr. Noelle Nelson Bio - Noelle is a professor of marketing in the Lundquist College of Business at UO, where her research has examined many aspects of consumer behavior - from logo design to online review impressions. She is also the director of the college's Insights Research Lab (IRL), which serves the needs of academic researchers, local businesses, and non-profits with cutting-edge research methodologies and access to research participants. Noelle's marketing consulting firm (Nelson Analytics, LLC) partners closely with IRL to help solve measurement and consumer-related problems.
